Tupac would have been 41 this year and it’s incredible to know his music continues to touch the lives of generations both old and new. Although some may argue he was not the most lyrically complex, you cannot deny the man’s ability to relate to the masses through his versatility. With tracks ranging from Hit Em Up to Dear Mama, Pac kept it real with his music, all day, every day.
Pac was an artist who bared his soul throughout his entire discography, and for that, he will always be relevant. He made music with meaning opposed to music for the moment giving his albums longevity and shelf-life for many years to come.
Perhaps Pac kept it a little too real. So real that he became the target of government officials among many others. They tried to silence him through death, but his music continues to play on — influencing and touching the soul’s of hip-hop lovers everywhere.
There’s still quality music being created but we must take the initiative to introduce the youth to the Kendrick’s and K.R.I.T’s of this generation, introduce them to artists who aren’t here to fit anyone’s Hip-Hop mold but instead make their own. Less Drake, More Tupac — Save Hip Hop, Save The World, word to my girl LoveJones.
For today and forever, let’s celebrate Tupac‘s life and continue to spread his message through sharing his music:
