Kane the Poet, a 24 year old ATLien (as I’d like to call them), bares his soul lyrically on The Ghost Writer pt 2. The combination of his words and his southern drawl immediately pull you into his stories of every day life, love, and everything in between. With familiar instrumentals from Z-Ro and Freddie Gibbs, he makes each track his own.
Kane The Poet tells YSA, “I started rapping around the age of 14. I really started out by writing poetry (hence the name) and over time through hard work and dedication, I developed my rapping skills.
My past mixtapes are “The Rough Draft” which was released in 2009, “The Ghost Writer Pt.1″, which was released in March of this year and most recently, “The Ghost Writer Pt. 2″ which was released digitally in October of this year (engineered exclusively by LA The Craftzman an affiliate of the infamous Justice Leauge production team). Pt.2 also features Laws, who is signed with the justice league and my boi Clark Kent who also had some production on pt. 2.
I am currently working on ” The Ghost Writer Pt.3″ which will be released around may or june of 2012. My song “Reflections” (#6) was recently featured on shade 45 radio with Statik Selektah as well.
I want to reestablish lyricism in the South. Especially being from Atlanta, we dont have any lyrical representation in the music game….all you ever hear is “swagg this” and “swagg that” but rarely anything of substance. I want to re introduce that element of story telling music that we seem to have forgotten about.
I want the world to know that I am an extremely talented and often slept on lyricist out of Atlanta, GA. My name is Kane The Poet because I embody that specific style of rapping. After all, rap is an acronym for “rhythm and poetry”. This is not a hobby for me, it is a way of life. Hip hop is my culture and I would like to think that I represent it well. I have some major things working out on my behalf and once the platform is set, I plan recalibrate the true essence of southern hip hop.”
