Being a writer/blogger, whatever you want to call it means that part of the job is to listen to tons and tons of music submissions. This week I figured I’d show you what I was listening to and how it ended up in this week’s, “What’s In My iTunes?”
1. Phonte – Dance In The Reign
This song isn’t the best song on Phonte’s project, Charity Starts At Home, but it definitely goes hard. The beat reminds me of Thurz project, L.A. Riot. There’s a gritty, gutta sound to this track that makes it part of this week’s WIMI.
2. Pac Div – Posted(Remix)
First song I listen to when I get in the car. It’s literally been that way everyday since I got Pac Div’s, The DiV. The project isn’t outstanding like I thought it would be but there a few tracks on there that get it going.
3. Childish Gambino – Hold You Down
Man, the story is this song is bananas! Gambino is really turning heads in this hiphop game and this song can easily define the artist he is. I been telling people to go out and cop, Camp.
4. Drake ft. The Weeknd – Crew Love
Take Care, is a monstrous album after a few listens. When Drake allows someone else to sing on his tracks while he raps, it equates to an instant hit. This song right here, killin’!
5. Mac Miller – Missed Calls
Blue Slide Park, really caught me by surprise as to how well it flows and how good it sounds. “Missed Calls”, is one of the more subtle tracks on the album but just has a real good feel to it.
6. Wale ft. Meek Mill & Rick Ross – Ambition
The self titled album track has the craziest beat and Meek & Ross make this song doper than it already was. When I heard this track I couldn’t stop listening to it… it’s still that way.
7. Yonas Michael – Big Body Benz (Coochie Max)
This song… ah man… all I can do is laugh because sometimes you need something in your playlist that really doesn’t reach out to you lyrically. This track is that for me. I love the beat on this and when played at high volume, will get you in the zone quick. If you want a track to vibe out to this is it.
